There are a couple of possible meanings of the BREADMORE name. It is suggested as being derived from the Nottinghamshire place name BRADMORE, which itself means 'broad lake' from the Old English bräd meaning 'broad' and mere meaning lake. However I have found no instances of the name in the Nottinghamshire area before 1805. There is a strong possibility there is a connection to BRIDMORE a locality near Burcombe, Wiltshire.
